Dry Cutting technique for Curly Hair
Elsa is a curly hair specialist who deeply understands the unique patterns and behavior of curls. She cuts hair dry to precisely predict its natural bounce and shape, ensuring a flawless result every time. Curls "spring up" when dry, so wet-cutting can lead to surprises (and uneven lengths). Dry cutting lets stylists see the true shape as they work. She believes—with the right technique and care, curly hair is the most stunning expression of individuality.
Determining Your Curl Pattern
Elsa works with hair types ranging from 2A to 3C. The letters A to C indicate the tightness or shape of the curl pattern. Type 1 refers to straight hair, type 2 features varying levels of wavy hair, type 3 includes well-defined curls, and type 4 consists of coils or kinky curls. Type A curls are generally looser, while types B and C display increasingly defined and tighter curl formations.
The Rezo Haircut
The Rezo haircut is a curly hair cutting method designed to boost volume while preserving the hair’s length. This technique is performed on dry hair to achieve maximum volume and highlight the natural beauty of curls. Volume is created by lifting each section of hair upward before cutting. This technique is suitable exclusively for curly hair, beginning from type 2B and beyond.
Deva Haircut
The Deva Cut is a unique technique designed for cutting wavy, curly, or coily hair.
This method involves trimming each curl individually while it falls naturally, helping to preserve the curl pattern.
The Deva cutting style enables the stylist to observe how each curl will lay, providing a face-framing shape. Compared to the Rezo cut, it creates less volume.
Benefits of Using Silicone-Free Hair Products
Products that contain silicone can temporarily improve the appearance of dry, damaged, and frizzy hair by filling in the porous gaps in the hair shaft. However, over time, silicone can weigh hair down, causing it to look dull and lifeless. It also blocks moisture from entering the hair and contributes to buildup of dirt. This buildup can eventually hinder the effectiveness of conditioners and other repair treatments. This issue is especially troublesome for curly hair, which tends to be naturally dry and more susceptible to frizz. Elsa is knowledgeable about the unique needs of curly hair and will cut and style the hair appropriately.

How does a Deva and Rezo cut differ?
The key difference between a Deva cut and a Rezo cut is that the Deva cut emphasizes framing the face with curls, creating more layers and angles. In contrast, the Rezo cut focuses on maintaining an even hair length around the head, allowing curls to move freely and producing a rounder, more balanced shape.
Is one of these haircuts better suited for curly hair and the other for wavy hair?
People with wavy hair might opt for the Deva Cut to add dimension and enhance definition for their waves. On the other hand, those with curly hair may favour the Rezo Cut to achieve greater volume and bounce in their curls.

The style should last for about 5 days. If your curls start to get a bit frizzy, you can revive your style by lightly misting your hair with water, then applying a small amount of leave-in conditioner and styling gel before scrunching. The longevity of the style depends on your curl type. It will generally last longer on very curly hair and a bit less time on wavy hair.
To keep your curly hair looking its best, plan to return for a haircut every 8 to 12 weeks. While a Rezo or Deva haircut can last from 3 to 6 months depending on hair growth, curl type, and personal style preferences, regular trims every couple of months help maintain the shape and health of your curls
You should wait about 5 days before washing your hair, but this can vary based on how dry or oily your hair is
Using a diffuser helps enhance curl definition and adds more volume, while air drying gives your hair a natural finish with less heat damage. You might want to try both methods to discover which one suits your curls best.
It’s best to avoid tying your hair into ponytails, buns, braids, or other tight styles, as these can stretch out your curls. Instead, wear your hair loose or secure it with loose clips or scrunchies to keep it out of your face. For sleeping, using a silk pillowcase and a silk scrunchie is ideal because silk causes less friction than cotton, which helps reduce frizz and keeps your hair healthy.
Silicone-free styling products help your hair retain more moisture because they do not create a barrier that blocks out nutrients. These products prevent buildup and residue that can make hair look dull and greasy. Additionally, silicone-free formulas are easier to wash out with a gentle shampoo, promoting cleaner, healthier hair.
The best shampoos and conditioners for curly hair are those that are sulfate-free. Sulfates are detergents that strip the hair of its natural oils and moisture, which can leave curly hair looking dry and frizzy. Choosing sulfate-free products helps maintain your hair’s natural hydration and keeps your curls healthy and defined.
